Woodbine Racetrack

Since opening in 1956, the Woodbine Racetrack has hosted some of the most important thoroughbred horse races in Canada. This signature venue hosts more than 100 total stakes throughout the year, including some of the oldest tournaments in North America. The Woodbine Racetrack hosts the Queen's Plate, which dates back to 1860. Restricted to thoroughbred horses with domestic birth, this historic race kicks off the Triple Crown tour in Canada. The final race of this circuit is known as the Breeders' Cup, which occurs on a special turf surface at this venue. The Canadian International Stakes is another notable competition that's hosted by this world-class facility. Covering a distance of 1.5 miles, this race has a heritage that goes back to the 1930's. Other Grade I events at the racetrack include the Woodbine Mile, E.P Taylor Stakes and Nearctic Stakes. The Woodbine Racetrack offers some of the biggest purses for thoroughbred horse racing in the nation. Many of the events at this iconic hub are designated for horses that were foaled in the province of Ontario. Food and Drinks

Watching the exciting competitions at the Woodbine Racetrack will surely make spectators develop some cravings for delicious food and refreshing drinks. Serving pub-style food, the Champions Bar and Patio has plenty of flat-screen TVs that cover the live action. This casual restaurant also offers al fresco dining with great views of the racetrack. Prime ribs and steaks are some of the signature items on the menu of the Favourites Dining Room, which offers a la carte servings. At the Finish Line Bar, you can cheer on the winner while eating chicken wings, salads, burgers and other classic American treats. If you're in the mood for a light meal, get a table at the Hoofbeats Lounge. Need a cup of coffee to recover after a nail-biting race? Head over to Tim Hortons. Asian cuisine is served at the Willows Noodle Bar, and an international menu is available at the Willows Dining Room. The most elegant and intimate dining establishments at the racetrack include the Woodbine Club Dining Room and Woodbine Club Lounge. From pizza slices and chicken sandwiches to salads and hot dogs, there are plenty of quick eats available at the food court on the second level. Centrally located in Toronto's Etobicoke district, the Woodbine Racetrack is easily accessible by car and public transportation. This historic racetrack is situated just off the Ontario Highway 427 and Ontario Highway 27. Passenger cars may be parked at an outdoor lot that has multiple entrances on Rexdale Boulevard and Grandstand Entrance Road. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) 37A bus route takes passengers directly to the racetrack. Several other TTC buses stop near the neighboring Woodbine Mall & Fantasy Fair, one of the largest retail hubs in the city. Additionally, this racing venue is located within 2 miles of Toronto Pearson International Airport, the city's primary commercial airport. Ground transportation options at the airport include theUnion Pearson Express train, rental cars and taxis. Many hotels near the airport also provide shuttle services to the terminals and racetrack.
