The Canadian Bank of Commerce (CIBC), now Massey Tower, was located at 197 Yonge St (north of Queen St) in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Built in 1905, this impressive four storey building was designed by architects Darling & Pearson. Created in Beaux Arts style with Classical details, the building features two Ionic columns along with two pilasters that hold up the triangle shaped pediment. The bank vacated the building in the late 1980’s. The duo, Darling & Pearson, designed many banks in Toronto and throughout Canada.
The landmark was given heritage status in 1974. Today, it’s the entrance and lobby for the 60 storey Massey Tower condo.
