Rides and Attractions

You won’t know where to start when you hit the grounds at Ontario Place with the wide variety of exciting rides and activities that are available. Kids can dive into the Atom Blaster, a wild foam ball playground with ball volcanoes and huge ball fountains. H 2O Generation Station, Canada’s largest outdoor soft play climbing structure, is a favourite with its maze of tunnels, towers and twisting slides. Throw your arms in the air while you plunge down the Free Fall tower ride, race down the 90 foot Super Slide, or jump aboard the Wilderness Adventure Ride. When it’s time for something a little more leisurely, hop on a pedal boat or hit the hills for a round of mini-golf.

Waterpark

From huge, twisting waterslides to an interactive play area for little ones, the Soak City water park will cool off the whole family on those hot summer days. The one of a kind Rush River Raft Ride is 873 feet of thrilling twists and turns. The Pink Twister and Purple Pipeline waterslides accelerate you through a maze of drops and bends. Thrill-seekers will be exhilarated by the Hydrofuge, where after sailing down on a tube at speeds of up to 50 kph, you are dropped into the six foot deep landing pool! And for the wee ones looking to splash about, the Waterplay area has dozens of games suitable for younger children. With spacious change rooms and the Seabreeze Bar and Grill to grab a bite, Soak City is the perfect spot to be cool.

Entertainment and Events

Ontario Place boasts an exciting schedule of events throughout the summer season, such as entertaining performances for children on the Treehouse Live! Stage and special presentations like the Festival of Fire pyrotechnic display, with stunning fireworks that light up the summer sky. The Molson Amphitheatre, a popular open-air venue, offers an exciting concert calendar. And movie lovers must check out The Cinesphere, the world’s first permanent IMAX theatre. With a massive screen, 24,000 watts of digital sound and seating capacity for 752 people, watching a film in this theatre is a cinematic experience like no other. The Cinesphere is open year round and offers a variety of movie choices from eye-popping nature and science films to Hollywood blockbusters.

Some History

Ontario Place was opened by the province of Ontario in 1971 after two years of construction and 1.5 million hours of labour. The park’s first waterslide opened in 1978 and by the early 80’s, the facility had established itself as a destination for families looking for fun and entertainment on the scenic waterfront of Lake Ontario.
